Jazz trio
Whispering Trees
Whispering Trees is a trio that pushes the boundaries of jazz in an adventurous and unpretentious way, crafting a sound that is truly their own. Their music, recorded with great attention to detail, is subtle yet powerful, showcasing the trio's remarkable craftsmanship and deep musical chemistry.
The group consists of Daniel Jonkers (drums & composition), Yu-Ting Li (piano), and Vitja Pauwels (guitar). Led by drummer Daniel Jonkers, a Brussels-based musician originally from Geleen, the trio has been steadily developing its presence in the jazz community. Daniel completed his Bachelor of Music at the Conservatory of Maastricht in 2016 and later earned his Master of Music. Daniel’s talents have not gone unnoticed—he won the EU Jazz Young Talent Award in 2014 for his distinctive choices, precise timing, and dynamic style. In 2018, he received the Toots Thielemans Jazz Award alongside Federico Stocchi as the most outstanding musicians graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In August 2024, Whispering Trees released their debut single, ‘Off To’. This motivational jazz piece seamlessly blends eclectic influences with rich guitar tones. Its dynamic composition highlights the trio's musical synergy and hints at even more exciting work to come.
